The Events Switch Ltd ("we", "us") is a UK career coaching company registered at 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights over it. We keep it in plain English because that's how we do everything.
What we collect and why
- Free guide sign-ups: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and where you are in your career switch. We use this to send you the guide and, where you've signed up for it, occasional emails with career advice and offers.
- Purchases: when you buy a product or service, our payment provider Stripe collects your name, email and payment details. We never see or store your full card number. We use your contact details to deliver what you bought and communicate about it.
- Coaching clients: the information you share with us for your coaching, such as your CV, LinkedIn profile and career history. We use it solely to provide the service you've paid for.
- Bookings: when you book a session, Calendly collects your name, email and answers to booking questions so the session can happen.
Where your data lives
We use a small number of trusted services to run the business. Your data may be processed by:
- Stripe (payments and receipts)
- MailerLite (email list and sending)
- Calendly (session bookings)
- Netlify (website hosting)
- Our email provider, for correspondence with you
Each of these companies has its own privacy and security measures, and some may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever, and we do not share it beyond the services above.
Legal bases
We process your data on the basis of: contract (delivering products and services you've bought), consent (marketing emails, which you can withdraw anytime via the unsubscribe link), and legitimate interest (basic business administration and responding to your messages).
How long we keep it
Email subscribers stay on our list until they unsubscribe or ask to be removed. Purchase records are kept for 6 years as required by UK tax law. Coaching materials (CVs, notes) are deleted within 12 months of your final session unless you ask us to keep them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us at any time to:
- See a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Stop marketing emails (or just use the unsubscribe link in any email)
To exercise any of these, email hello@theeventsswitch.com and we'll act within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Our website itself doesn't set marketing or tracking cookies. Embedded services (such as the sign-up form and payment pages) may set functional cookies needed to work.
